Kootenay Willow Wool's Story

Rooted in the Kootenays

Welcome to Kootenay Willow Wool! I am a small, handcrafted business nestled in the heart of British Columbia's Kootenay region, on the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa Nation. As a Metis artist, I create with care, intention, and a deep love for expressing my artistic whims through beadwork. A lot of my pieces are inspired by the land and those around me.

What I Make

From artisan jewelry to crochet and knitted goods, every piece we create is made by hand and designed to be meaningful. As you can imagine, this means things are slow in the  making, which means taking the time to craft things that last and that tell a story. I originally created this business when I was only offering fibre arts, and then the pandemic hit and I felt quite disconnected from my Metis community. In order to reconnect in a safe way, I attended every and any online workshop I could surrounding beading and creation. From there, I was able to learn techniques from elders and other artists throughout the country and from there I began to develop my own style. I am growing as an artist every day, and I can't wait to see where my art goes to next.

My Values

We're committed to inclusivity, creativity, and representation. Whether it's our pride-inspired earrings or my fibre creations, I want every customer to feel seen and celebrated.
